Newman Knowledge Kiosk

The National Institute for Newman Studies has developed, in conjunction with Crivella West, Inc., the Newman Knowledge Kiosk. The Kiosk is an advanced search engine for use by serious Newman scholars. Making use of the extensive digital Newman library, the Kiosk is able to assist scholars in exploring the complex and abundant concepts in Newman’s writing, through a variety of indexing tools. This technology is unique to the Newman Research Library and promises to transform the process of academic inquiry.

Please note:  NINS is currently in the process of enhancing access to all of its library resources, including the Knowledge Kiosk, Newman Reader, and the online catalog, into a new comprehensive digital library format.  Therefore, we cannot accept new users to the Knowledge Kiosk at this time.  Current users' access will not be limited.  We apologize for this inconvenience for new users. Please look for the new NINS Digital Library in late summer 2013!

Newman Research Library

The Newman Research Library is an extensive resource for scholars interested in the works of Blessed John Henry Newman. The stacks at the Gailliot Center for Newman Studies in Pittsburgh contain an extensive collection of Newman and Newman-related works in the fields of theology, spirituality, philosophy, literature, and church history.

The collection is designed to include every edition of Newman’s writings published in his lifetime. This repository is available to researchers in residence through the Newman Scholarship Program and by special arrangement to others who have an interest in Newman. The catalog of this collection can be accessed through Newman Research Library Online.

Newman Digital Library

In addition to its collection of printed material, the Newman Research Library offers wide digital access to a broad collection of Newman and Newman-related works through its digital library.

Through NewmanReader.org, anyone interested in learning about Newman can access Newman’s books, articles, and prefaces, in addition to Newman biographies, critical writing, and other Newman-related works.

NINS has currently embarked on a project to create a comprehensive digital library of Newman resources!  The digital library will provide online access to the corpus of Cardinal Newman's archive which resides at the Birmingham Oratory, UK.  Look for new enhanced search capabilities in late summer 2013.
